The 2020 Asia Cup is set to begin on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates. We already know the schedule of the matches. And finally, I got news on online news media that television (TV) broadcasters of the Asia Cup cricket tournament hired eleven commentators. The broadcasters hired a total of eleven commentators but ten of them are from the subcontinent, which makes me happy; and the rest of the men is from New Zealand.
Who are on the panel of commentators for Asia Cup 2022?
Television broadcasters have hired the services of commentators from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Before hiring the services of the eleven commentators from five countries, the broadcasters were in formal consultation with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the regulatory body for cricket in the Asian region.
Athar Ali Khan, a former Bangladeshi batter and one of the best commentators in the cricket world will make Bangladesh proud in the UAE. He is the only commentator from Bangladesh, and will be in the box for Bangladesh matches; I’m not sure if he’ll comment in the qualifiers round and the final.
Two Sri Lankan commentators will share the microphones in the 2020 Asia Cup Russel Arnold, Sri Lanka’s former middle order batter, is one among the eleven commentators from Asia for the Asia Cup. Another famous commentator from Sri Lanka will be in the box, Roshan Abeysinghe (not confirmed). However, Arnold will only deliver his voice in the Sri Lanka matches, but Abeysinghe will be there for the qualifiers round.
From India, Ravi Shastri, Irfan Pathan, Gautam Gambhir, Deep Dasgupta, and Sanjay Manjrekar will be in the commentator box. It would be better if Ravi Shastri were not on the list of commentators. Hopefully, Gautam Gambhir’s appearance on the microphone will satisfy the audience. Sanjay Manjerekar is acceptable as an Indian commentator, but his ‘Indian Nationalist’ attitude provokes most of the audiences on TV. Although Ravi Shastri’s commentary is not very enjoyable to me, I am eagerly waiting for the moment of his meet-up with Wasim Akram.
Irfan Pathan is like a ‘chamak’. If you don’t understand the word ‘chamak’, ask me. I have no opinion on Deep Dasgupta.
It should be noted that all of the five Indian commentators will not comment from the stadiums, some of them will be doing the job from the Star Network studio in India.
Two Pakistani legends will represent Pakistan In the Asia Cup 2020 as commentators. The most celebrated two commentators from Pakistan are Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. I am always excited when I listen to Wasim Akram; and I believe when Wasim Akram is on the microphone, every subcontinent audience enjoys the way he delivers his comments. I am a fan of Wasim Akram’s polite analysis during a match. And Waqar Younis! Pakistan people are eagerly waiting to listen to him on TV, I can say it undoubtedly.
It has been told about the ten commentators from the subcontinent. But who are the non-Asian commentators for the 2020 Asia Cup? The non-Asian commentator in the panel for the 2020 Asia Cup is Australia-born New Zealander Scott Styris.
